Safe Spaces Policy. Take a Deep Breath. Embody Compassion.
I advocate for acceptance and compassion for people of all kinds. All are welcome. I believe that oppressive conversations, jokes, other language, as well as actions or policies that exhibit racism, sexism, religious intolerance, transphobia, homophobia, ageism, or body shaming are harmful to the health and wellness of our individual selves and our community as a whole, including being harmful to those who are perpetuating such language or actions. I believe that until we have a system in which all humans are seen and treated as free and equal, the system does not serve any of us. I acknowledge my own role participating in and benefiting from systems that uphold and protect white male supremacy. I believe in actively working towards an inclusive future in which institutions reinforcing racism and sexism are replaced by systems that are equitable and accessible to all. I will make mistakes, I am willing to listen, I am here for the uncomfortable conversations. I will continue to educate myself about the history of our nation, the world, and the modalities and crafts which I practice. I acknowledge that while treatments like massage are considered healthcare to some, they are an inaccessible luxury to others. I will continue to donate my time and resources to support those who have less, with a focus on women’s shelters, organizations working for equity in reproductive, sexual health, and consent education, as well as organizations which support BIPOC and immigrant communities. We are taught that wellness spaces are not political spaces, but equity, inclusivity, safety, and wellbeing for all are not political ideals, they are human ideals, they are healthcare ideals. |
